Slowpoke, a straight-edge hardcore band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was renowned for their energetic live shows in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, and Canada during the early 1990s. Their style combined sharp guitars with a dynamic rhythm section and intense vocals, resulting in a melodic and breakdown-heavy hardcore sound.Although socially aware, Slowpoke didn't preach from the stage. Their charged setlists and mosh pits at diverse venues were their signature. Active from 1992 to 1995, they played alongside bands like Abnegation, Anti-Flag, and 25 Ta Life.

Their sole release, A WORLD IN TURMOIL, was recorded in 1993 in Weirton, West Virginia. The cassette, limited to 300 copies, quickly sold out but later gained traction via tape trading. Its 30th anniversary sees a remastered edition, with 250 copies on red vinyl, released through Caraxes Media.
